Creating New Spaces
by Jackie Woods
When I had a fairly large skin cancer removed from my leg, I was told to cut back on all my physical activities for three months. This was a huge change for me. I am one of those people who stay busy, enjoy exercising, and love supporting people through healing sessions.
This turn of events meant I had to restructure my expressions. Doing chair yoga for my top half was the easy part. But the hardest part was not doing in-person sessions. I realized I was rather addicted to the tangible feedback I received while working from my office. I liked the intimacy of interacting with clients and having the verbal reassurance that what we were doing together was making a difference in their lives. But not having that helped to strengthen trust in the power of heart connections.
This experience has strengthened my trust in the magic of a heart connection as well as demonstrated the power of intent. Many of my “on-hold” clients started listening to my recordings with the intent of staying connected. This proved to be a powerful joining tool as well as a love expander. But the biggest reward has been allowing myself spaces which are equal in giving and receiving. This new balance has created many new spaces of expression.
What I at first considered to be a bad turn of events has turned into a blessing. By creating new ways to express who I am, I was freed from some comfortable but rigid expressions. Creating new spaces of expression has allowed me to conceive and birth new parts of myself. Thus, love has become greater in my life.
It is difficult to believe that I am actually grateful to have had cancer on my leg. It has caused me to review all my structures to see if they can be expanded or changed to allow more heartfelt expression. Simple things like evaluating the games I play, what and when I eat, how I share, as well as how I meditate, have allowed me to do so with new intention.
I share with you how this bump in the road unfolded for me so you can create new spaces without having to manifest a wake-up call to get your attention. As I move back into an active life, I do so with a greater appreciation for the changes that creating new spaces can bring.
