Remember the song, “When you wish upon a star”? The lyrics go on to say, “Makes no difference who you are. Anything your heart desires will come to you.” I think, as a child, I loved that song so much because it gave me the right to dream beyond my existing circumstances. It wasn’t that my life was horrible; it just didn’t always feel good. And my perceived “heart’s desires” were simple. I just wished for the courage to scramble for eggs in the Easter egg hunt at school, and I just wished that my little brother would quit embarrassing me.

Of course as I grew older, my perceived desires changed, but always those desires were for changes that I didn’t feel I could make. Well, it is true I couldn’t make my brother be less embarrassing, but I could have stopped letting it bother me. But now, as a grownup, I realize that heart desires really do come from the Heart rather than from my feelings. Had I realized this as a child I would have had to accept my Heart’s desire for me to have courage. I could have then faced the pushy kids in the Easter egg scramble hunt. And while my Heart couldn’t convince my brother to be nice, it could have given me the sense of self-worth necessary to realize his behavior did not put me in a bad light with others.

So whenever these lyrics come into your head, “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires will come to you,” realize it’s truly your Heart that offers what you need to make desires come true. This is because everything your Heart wants, as opposed to what your emotions want, is yours for the asking. Then once you claim your Heart’s divine offering, you will be able to fill those empty spaces in your life.

For instance, if you need courage, it is there. If you need love, it is there. Whatever you truly need, your Heart desires for you to have it. The Heart offers the magic of the exact energy needed for you to fulfill your desires. All you have to do in order to accept the Heart’s energy, that will fulfill your true desires, is to give up your belief that you don’t already have it.
