Public is Invited to Free Earth Day Celebration at Adawehi Institute
Columbus, NC, April 19, 2007 - The public is invited to join the Adawehi Community’s Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 28. According to Earth Day Network, a non-profit organization that coordinates worldwide events on Earth Day and year-round, officially April 22, Earth Day is often celebrated on weekends before or after April 22. Worldwide, the celebration is an expression of intent to create a sustainable society. Since the first Earth Day in 1970, these celebrations have inspired action on many levels—personal, family, community, local government, national, and international—to raise people’s environmental consciousness.
The walking trails through the Stewardship Forest of Adawehi will be open. There will be a children’s nature class Saturday morning and guided nature walks in the afternoon.
Participation in the Community Work Weekend is also open to the public from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. This structured nature experience will begin with a guided meditation at 8:00 am where a “heart-energy-for-the-day” will be brought to awareness. Work teams will then be assigned to care for the forest and the grounds. Participants will focus on the heart energy while working with their teams in synergy.
Call to register for Children’s Activities, Guided Plant Identification Nature Walks, or Community Work Weekend.
