The Local Area in the Isothermal Belt
Adawehi is in Polk County, NC, a rural area of 19,000 people. The County includes three municipalities - Columbus, Tryon, and Saluda - as well as six townships. In the central Blue Ridge Mountains and foothills, the area enjoys the mild temperatures of the isothermal belt (or thermal belt) that supports long growing seasons and many outdoor activities.
Be Nurtured and Relaxed on the Adawehi Campus
Adawehi is nestled on 125 acres of woodlands where a balance of natural and manicured gardens shows off the diversity of nature. A haven for common and rare plant species, the campus is a native plant preserve that includes walking trails lined with ferns, azaleas and a variety of wildflowers and herbs.
While visiting, there are many possibilities for nurturing yourself:
- Take a carefree walk along the trail
- Tour the biodynamic garden
- Meet other visitors, residents, and students at a variety of community events on campus
- Shop at the gift shops
- Treat yourself to a session with one or more of the ten healers

- Exercise at the Gym
- Enjoy a snack from Beneficial Foods Natural Market
- Listen to the water rushing along White Oak Creek
- Take a Healthy Cooking Class or one of the many wellness classes available
